This book won the Newberry Medal.

They got into war because they killed all of the sea otters, the people of the island of the blue dolphins were supposed to get half of the otters but the English stole all of the otter and then war broke out.

T2 persuasive writing

We have been learning to write persuasive texts. To do this, We had to use our words to convince someone to believe something. Here is an example of my writing. I tried to persuade adults with babies to stop dumping nappies.

STOP DUMPING RUBBISH!! To People with young children and babies, Please stop dumping nappies because… 1 It hurts the environment, for example we went to the Waitangi wetlands a few weeks ago and found over thirty bags of rubbish, the wetlands were filled with rubbish, the rubbish could destroy the trees and we wouldn't be able to breathe. 2 The fish could choke on the nappies and die if you throw the nappies in the river or the poo could poison them and we would have no fish left in the rivers. 3 People could step on the nappies and have really dirty shoes and have to throw them in the rubbish and they would be very angry and disappointed. And that's why I believe that you should stop dumping rubbish.

T2 netball

Writing

Metaphors WALT: use metaphors to make our writing more descriptive. We took part in a “Get NZ Writing” project. We wrote on postcards and had to describe ourselves using metaphors. We sent our postcards to Hukanui School in Hamilton. They sent postcards back to us. Here are some metaphors from my poem. Eli is a bulldozer tackling people on the rugby field. Whenever he is at school he is a Super Nova about to explode with ideas.

Swimming T1

For P.E in term 1 we have been working on our swimming skills. I am in the seals group my learning goals are: tread water for 2 minutes, do a standard dive, swim one length breaststroke and swim a three length medley.
I find treading water the hardest because I can't keep my head above the water. And my favourite stroke is freestyle.
